Projektsammanfattning:
In electric vehicles (EV), the state of health (SOH) of the battery is overseen by the battery management system (BMS). Modern BMS are largely based on optimized empirical models ignorant of the fundamental physicochemical principles truly governing battery SOH. One reason is the significant knowledge gap regarding how a given vehicle usage profile triggers and modulates the various degradation modes of the battery. This project will establish and eventually incorporate a model linking relevant battery usage scenarios to specific degradation mechanisms with non-destructive diagnosis, which would be a first step towards making the BMS physics-aware and better suited to enhance its precision and reliability. Such a model also provides the basis on which a BMS methodology can be further developed to sense, evaluate, and inform of critical battery ageing parameters directly on the vehicle.
