Data Centers’ Energy Performance
The new Energy Efficiency Directive introduces new requirements for the owners or operators of data centres to publicly disclose information about the energy performance of their data centres.
Law on Disclosure of Information on Data Centers’ Energy Performance
The law is planned to come into force on July 1, 2025, in Sweden. That means that owners or operators of data centres will be required to report data by May 15, 2026. The data to be reported includes information for the full year 2025 and data according to the delegated regulation 2024/1364.

Reporting Registration
The Swedish Energy Agency is the national coordinator for reporting data centres’ energy performance. We provide Swedish data centres with access to the EU database.
If you have a data centre with at least 500 kW of installed IT power demand, email info...@energimyndigheten.se with information about the data centre’s name and a corresponding company email address created for this reporting, for example, EEDrep...@company.com.
Voluntary Reporting
The database is already open for voluntary reporting. You can report data for 2023 and 2024. If you wish to report, send an email to info...@energimyndigheten.se. Voluntary reporting is open until September 30, 2025. No supervision will be carried out for reporting for 2023 and 2024.
About the revised Energy Efficiency Directive
Article 12 of the revised Energy Efficiency Directive 2023/1791 (EED) introduces an obligation for Member States to require owners or operators of data centres with an installed IT power demand of at least 500 kW to disclose information on their energy performance. The information must be reported annually by May 15 to an EU database, where it is published in an aggregated format. The aim is to promote efficiency and the use of renewable energy and reduce the environmental impact of data centres.
